Responsibilities
The Planning and Development Department is responsible for the administration of the Land Use Bylaw and planning documents. Activities involve the processing and issuance of development permits, land use bylaw amendments, compliance certificates, and subdivision applications. Depending on the type of situation, the Development Officer, the Municipal Planning Commission, the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board, and Town Council have authority to make planning and development decisions. The Oldman River Regional Services Commission processes subdivision applications and provides professional assistance with all planning matters for the town.
IMPORTANT!
We are experiencing a significant uptick in land and property development interest/ speculation at this time.
Potential purchasers should always do their own due diligence when it comes to purchasing homes which have not been approved or constructed yet. You can always contact the Town for a list of approved subdivisions and development permits.
Municipal lots can be purchased directly from the municipality.
