Arena Multiplex Renewal (THRC)

The Town would like to thank you for your support over the past years and look forward to the future of the Tom Hornecker Recreation Centre.   It is time that we begin looking at the needs of our community and the rural areas it serves.  With very active  support, we can achieve great things. With the costs increasing annually and a small tax and user base to draw from, we are faced with renovating the building in almost every aspect of its use.  The THRC is once again starting to show its age and our community's needs for a recreation complex remain consistent.     Costs are rising and senior government funding for recreation is not particularly significant at this time. There are pressing capital upgrades required from changing rooms to boilers to plumbing to LED lighting.  A new protected reserve has been created to assist with fund-raising for this ongoing challenge.

Public Realm: fundraising for new and replacement amenities

Council has created a new protected reserve to hold donated, transferred or contributed capital funds designated by Council for funding amenities, infrastructure and other improvements that tangibly and visibly improve the physical condition, appearance and function of the Nanton's public areas and provide a public benefit to the community overall.  Council has committed $40,000 of utility franchise fee revenue to this reserve annually to get it started, but is looking to user groups, societies, individuals and companies to improve the balance of this reserve through donations and sponsorship agreements.

The funds are designated for the following purposes:
a. The replacement, repair or renovation of amenities, infrastructure and other improvements that are a priority for the public realm in the view of Council;

b. The acquisition and installation of new of amenities, infrastructure and other improvements that are a priority for the public realm in the view of Council;

c. The acquisition and installation of new or replacement amenities, infrastructure and other improvements that are to be funded by one or more conditional donations, including memorial donations.

Nanton Fire Department

The Nanton Fire Department reserve receives Council and donated funds for municipal fire infrastructure, fire apparatus for the Fire Hall and equipment, gear and minor capital as required.
