COVID-19 measures at the THRC Arena facility (updated)

THRC Hockey

Subsequent to direction from Council on November 1st, the Town will shortly hire security services to address non-compliance challenges with AHS COVID-19 regulations at the Tom Hornecker Recreation Centre.   For the next two weeks at least, the arena will remain a non-Restrictions Exemption Program (REP) facility for youth activities and events, meaning that the public must comply with all existing required masking and food and drink prohibitions.  The additional services are being acquired to ensure that these provincial regulations are taken seriously by all facility users and spectators,  the burden of compliance no longer falling onto our operational staff.  We encourage users to take this time to observe the restrictions in the facility so that the next likely step, REP introduction at the main door for all activities, remains one that Town need not take at this time.

COVID-19 Guidance for Restrictions Exemption Program (alberta.ca)

"If you violate a public health order, you may be subject to a $2,000 fine. Additionally, you can be prosecuted for up to $100,000 for a first time offense.

If you are concerned someone is not following public health orders, you can:

  • remind them that not following orders is against the law and puts people at risk
  • request service from AHS public health inspectors online or call 1-833-415-9179"
