It's Capital Works Season

Capital Works Season

It's that time of year again.  Major capital works that can disrupt local water, sewer or road access will be announced through the alert centre as the scheduled days near.

https://www.nanton.ca/AlertCenter.aspx .

You can sign up for alerts to your phone or e-mail via the website.  There may be significant water service disruption this spring as Operations tackle at least one dozen valve replacements and more throughout town.

It is critical that the Town tackle issues such as leak detection, water main repair and sewer main re-lining.  These and other projects can cause a little short term frustration for property owners and other residents for temporary periods of time.  It is likely that some parts of town will be impacted by multiple shut-offs between now and the end of June in particular as valves are replaced.  One of the goals behind this program is to reduce the size or scope of water isolation areas for repairs in future.

If you need to discuss a relatively minor related matter to these works as they go along  (e.g. tidying up boulevard, yard areas and so on, please contact the Operations Dept. directly).  We will be getting to some laneway gravelling, tidy up and more as the weather improves.  Report a concern.

We are used to hearing queries about when particular pot holes or excavated sections of road will be cold patched or fully repaired.  In the case of excavated works for sewer and water repairs, patching will be scheduled depending on the time of year.  Temperature and budgetary cycle are both factors - it will rarely happen immediately after a major buried infrastructure repair, particularly during colder months, as a patch would likely end up having to be completely redone in warmer weather.  Potholes that we are aware of will be listed for filling as part of the seasonal capital work, but please report them if you are unsure that that they are on the radar of Public Works.

During this time, please continue to report leaks, pressure changes in the home and unexplained pooling anywhere outside.  Your assistance and patience is appreciated.
