The Town of Nanton Public Asset Donation Program provides a meaningful way for community members to contribute to the beauty and enjoyment of our public spaces. Whether it’s a memorial bench, a tree planted for future generations, or a park feature that encourages community connection, your donation creates a legacy that enriches the lives of residents and visitors alike.
This program allows individuals, families, service clubs, and businesses to:
- Honour the memory of a loved one
- Celebrate a milestone or achievement
- Leave a lasting contribution to the community
- Support the long-term improvement of Nanton’s parks, trails, and public places
What Can Be Donated?
Donated assets must meet Town standards for quality, durability, and long-term maintenance. Examples include:
- Benches & Picnic Tables – placed in parks, trails, or gathering areas
- Trees & Shrubs – planted according to the Town’s tree planting schedule
- Playground & Park Equipment – enhancing recreation for families and youth
- Other Approved Features – such as bike racks, decorative stones, or refuse/recycling containers
Plaques may also be installed on certain items as a way to share a message of tribute or remembrance.
Maintenance & Lifespan
All donated assets become the property of the Town of Nanton upon installation. The Town is responsible for routine maintenance for the expected lifespan of each item. For example, benches and tables may last many years with regular upkeep, while trees and shrubs are cared for according to best practices in urban forestry.
If an asset reaches the end of its lifespan, donors may have the option to renew or replace it at their own expense, ensuring the tribute continues.
Locations
Assets are placed in approved public spaces such as:
- Town parks, trails, and playgrounds
- Sports fields and recreation areas
