Recreation Master Plan Update

The Town of Nanton is reviewing and updating its existing Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan, and we want to hear from you!

The current Master Plan provides a foundation for the development and management of Nanton's parks, trails, recreation facilities and open spaces. As our community grows and recreation needs evolve, it's important to revisit the Plan to ensure it continues to reflect the needs and priorities of residents.

This update will build on the existing Plan, identify opportunities for improvement and help guide future decisions about recreation in Nanton.

About the Master Plan

The Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan is part of the Town's Municipal Development Plan and provides long-term direction for parks, trails, green spaces and outdoor recreation.

The review will look at how the existing Plan can be updated to better reflect current and future recreation needs, including:

  • Existing parks, recreation facilities and amenities.
  • Trails, pathways and connections between community spaces.
  • Recreation programs and opportunities for all ages and abilities.
  • Accessibility and improvements to existing spaces.
  • Future recreation opportunities and community priorities.
  • Long-term maintenance, affordability and sustainability.

Review the Existing Master Plan

Residents are encouraged to review the current Plan to learn about its existing goals and recommendations before sharing their ideas for the update.
