Proposed Film Production Policy – Public Feedback
The Town of Nanton is seeking public input on a proposed Film Production Policy and Film Production Application Package that would establish a clear, consistent process for managing commercial and non-commercial filming within the community.
The proposed policy is intended to support filming activity while ensuring it is coordinated in a safe, orderly, and respectful manner that minimizes impacts on residents, businesses, municipal operations, infrastructure, and public spaces. Filming can provide economic and promotional benefits to the community, and this policy aims to balance those opportunities with appropriate oversight, risk management, and public access considerations.
The policy outlines requirements related to permitting, site use, insurance, traffic and noise considerations, communications with affected residents and businesses, and the use of Town facilities, streets, parks, and other public spaces. A companion Film Production Permit Application has also been developed to support consistent administration of filming requests.
While the Municipal Government Act does not require a public hearing for this type of policy, Council values community input and is inviting comments, suggestions, and recommendations before final consideration.
Comment Period
Public comments will be accepted until February 20, 2026.
