Voter Information

To vote, you must prove your identity and current address.
To do this, you may:

• Provide one piece of Government-issued photo ID, including your full name, current address, and photo
• Provide two pieces of ID, both containing your full name, and with one showing your current physical address
• Have another registered elector in your voting area vouch for you
• Have an authorized signatory complete an attestation form

You are an eligible voter if you:

• are at least 18 years old
• are a Canadian Citizen
• are a resident of the Town of Nanton on Election Day
• can provide authorized identification

All voters must sign the voting register stating that they meet these qualifications before they will be given a ballot.

Note:  Landed immigrants and British subjects are not eligible to vote.

You can be added to the electors register at the voting station either during Advance Vote or on Election Day. Bring one piece of acceptable ID with you to register at the voting station.

Please note: voters must complete a statement confirming their eligibility to receive a school board ballot (either public or separate) if they are requesting one.

The Town of Nanton collects the following information during the registration process:

• Name – First and Last
• Address – Residential Address and Mailing Address (if applicable)
• Birth date
• Signed statement Form 13 – Elector Register (PDF) 

The personal information collected by Town of Nanton Returning Officer is used to support the administrative requirements of the Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA) and is authorized under section 13(1) of the LAEA and section 4(c) of the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA).

Yes, all eligible voters need to be added to the electors register in order to vote. If you are renting, you can register or update your residential address to the one you currently live at that matches your ID.  

Ballots are counted by our trained elections staff. The count takes place the night of the election after polls have closed.

Yes, the Town of Nanton voting station for Livingston Range School Division Ward 1 will be at the same voting stations for the Town of Nanton for the advance vote on October 17, 2025 at the Kosy Korner and the Regular Vote on October 20, 2025 at the Nanton Community Centre. 

To vote for the School Division all voters will have to fill and sign a Form 13 per the Local Authorities Election Act.
