Shauna grew up in Nanton and attended J.T. Foster High School from grade 6 through grade 12, where she was actively involved in community programs such as Explorers, softball, the Nanton Figure Skating Club, and 4-H. These early experiences helped shape her understanding of the importance of volunteers and the strength that comes from a close-knit community.

After spending some time away, she was proud to return and once again call Nanton home in 2011. Since then, she has volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the committee for the new Land Use Bylaw, local casino fundraisers, the Distinctly Nanton Christmas Market, and the Nanton Christmas Concert. She currently serves as Treasurer for the Nanton Future Foundation, Board member for Nanton Quality of Life, and Chair of the Municipal Planning Commission.

Professionally, she recently retired after a 40-year career in the Oil and Gas sector. Her background includes contractual law, leadership, process development, and a strong understanding of operational procedures from start to finish, as well as experience working closely with the Alberta Mines and Minerals Act. These skills have strengthened her knowledge in governance, strategic planning, and budgeting, along with the ability to ask the right questions and make decisions that are both practical and community-minded. Deeply rooted in Nanton and dedicated to its continued success, she remains committed to supporting thoughtful growth and maintaining the strong sense of community that defines the town.
