Curbside Recycling

Recycling in Nanton – Alberta’s EPR Program

Alberta’s Recycling System is Changing

Phase 2 of Alberta’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system begins October 1, 2026. Under EPR, responsibility for funding and managing designated residential packaging and paper recycling shifts from municipalities to the companies that supply those materials. Circular Materials will manage the program on behalf of producers.

For Nanton residents, the transition will be straightforward. This is not a new curbside recycling program, and there is no change to your recycling bin or collection schedule. T&T Disposal will continue to collect recycling in Nanton. Circular Materials will work with T&T Disposal to provide recycling collection under the EPR system.

One change residents will notice is an expanded list of materials that can be recycled beginning October 1, 2026.

Circular Materials will have a dedicated Nanton recycling webpage available September 30, 2026, where residents can find local recycling information, accepted materials and other program details.

In the meantime, visit Circular Materials – Recycling in Alberta to learn more about Alberta’s EPR recycling system.
